Scouts: Skills Challenge Award – Part 1

Everyone has to start somewhere, and practice makes perfect. Hone your skills over a six-week period, and see how quickly you’ll soar!

To earn your badge, do all the activities below, keep a record and bring in for your leaders when we return to meetings. There are more tasks to do to complete the award but we will look at these later or with your leaders once you get back to Scout meetings.


Skills Task 2: Handy Portions
Get hands-on with healthy eating, as we explore how to measure out portion sizes properly.


Skills Task 4: Take on new skills!
Get on Trend and repair the tears in the things you wear, as we discover how easy it can be to sew patches on your favourite clothes

Using old items to experiment on find out which substance makes the best stain remover? Look for laundry lifesavers among some ordinary household products

Use a washing machine to wash a load of clothes – make sure you include your Scout shirt and neckerchief, separate out clothes into light/medium/dark washes, check laundry labels to find out how to wash items correctly and what do the laundry symbols mean?

Iron your uniform and neckerchief.

Cook and serve a two-course meal, for at least four people. Wash up afterwards ensuring that everything is clean and dry and all work surfaces have been wiped down.
