Scouts: Hobbies Activity Badge

Take part in a hobby and develop your skills. You could choose to develop your creative and artistic flair, start a collection or take part in other pursuits Safety Hobby activity Supervise young people appropriately when they’re participating in their hobby. Hobbies Task 1: Hobby-go-round! Choose a hobby to take part in for at least 4 months. This could be something you have recently started during the lockdown or something new. You could choose a new craft (Kirstie: Keep Crafting and Carry On – Channel 4 has lots of ideas), start baking or cooking, you could start watching wildlife in your garden or many other ideas. Whether you’re volunteering in your local community or learning about an international issue, this award is all about exploring the world from your doorstop and making a positive impact. Safety Scissors Supervise young people appropriately when they’re using scissors. Store all sharp objects securely, out of the reach of young people Online Promise video Make sure parents and carers are aware and have given consent for online activities. Hiking and Walking You should be accompanied by a parent or carer ,  follow the countryside code  and check the weather forecast is suitable before you set out . All activities must be safely managed.  Our World Task 1: For the Love of Scrubs Help out in our local community by letting carers and NHS staff know how much we appreciate them. We would love as many of our young people as possible to join in with this postcard ‘thank you’ which has been organised by one of our West Bridgford Scouters - Becky Howard who is

How do you see the World? Phones, cameras and videos All activities must be safely managed.  To earn your badge, do the photography activities below. Photographer Task 1: Pinhole pictures Make your own version of a pin hole camera – the very first photographic device. Can you still take the perfect shot. You will need: Double sided sticky tape, black tape, an aluminium can, a needle, a cork, pliers, fine sandpaper, strips of Velcro, a dark space to work in, photographic paper, craft materials (including large scissors, craft knife, glue stick, stiff black card and a metal ruler. If you don’t have any of these items can they be sub
