Cubs: Disability Awareness Activity Badge

As Scouts we believe in inclusion, which means everyone is welcome and nobody gets left out.  Play your part by learning about additional needs and disabilities.

How to earn your badge: Choose one thing to do from each of the four lists.

1.     Disability awareness

Read the fact sheet about Paralympian and Scout Ambassador, Ellie Simmonds.  Fill in the quiz sheet and make a poster to tell a story about her achievements.

2.     Physical disability awareness

Make a sandwich using only one hand or draw a picture using only your feet to hold the pen.

3.     Deaf awareness

Get your parent to film you saying the promise in BSL so you can show your leader.

 

4.     Sight awareness

Braille is a system of touch reading and writing for blind persons in which raised dots represent the letters of the alphabet.  Braille is read by moving the hand or hands from left to right along each line.
